The project #architetteitaliane is part of the section of the Pavillion titled DECOLONIZING THE BUILT ENVIRONMENT: “.. This section consists of pieces of art and installations that deal with the topic of decontamination of the environment built by prejudices and forms of reification. Characterised by the idea that diversity is the right tool to overcome the limitations of the current system and strengthen the resilience of places and communities, this area addresses the topic of intersectionality, the major issues of democracy, and the role of the female perspective at three different scales: democratic liberation movements in Korea and South America (MaytoDay, project by Gwangju Biennale Foundation), the role of women in society developed in collaboration with ActionAid, and the indispensable presence of women architects in the profession.” Alessandro Melis. Il progetto DETOXING ARCHITECTURE FROM INEQUALITIES : A PLURAL ACT – DISINTOSSICARE L’ARCHITETTURA DALLE INEGUAGLIANZE: UN ATTO PLURALE, si inserisce nella sezione del padiglione intitolata DECOLONIZING THE BUILT ENVIRONMENT: “.. sezione che si compone di opere d’arte e installazioni che hanno come tema la decolonizzazione dell’ambiente costruito dai pregiudizi e dalle forme di reificazione. Caratterizzata dall’idea che la diversità sia il giusto strumento per superare i limiti del sistema attuale e rafforzare la resilienza dei luoghi e delle comunità, in quest’area viene trattato l’argomento dell’intersezionalità, affrontando i grandi temi della democrazia e del ruolo della prospettiva femminile su tre scale diverse: i movimenti di liberazione democratica in Corea e Sud America (MaytoDay della Fondazione Biennale Gwangju), il ruolo della donna nella società, sviluppato in collaborazione con Action Aid, e l’imprescindibile presenza delle architette nella professione.” Alessandro Melis. DETOXING ARCHITECTURE FROM INEQUALITIES : A PLURAL ACT.
The installation proposed by RebelArchitette is a hymn to respect, justice and the need for diversification in the landscape of the interpreters of architecture, both female and male, in Italy and all over the world.
A choral project of research and representation, it does not put forward exclusive selection formulas, it instead privileges new interpretations of the profession, which are still invisible to the wider public.
Here on display are 137 Italian female role models to be discovered: architects, designers, visionaries, bricklayers, influencers supported by a sincere archi-sisterhood and, yes, also archi-brotherhood.

L’installazione proposta da RebelArchitette è un inno al rispetto, alla giustizia e alla necessità di diversificare il panorama degli e delle interpreti dell’architettura, in Italia come in tutto il mondo.
Un progetto corale di ricerca e rappresentazione che non propone formule esclusive di selezione, ma che, al contrario, privilegia nuove letture della professione ancora invisibili al grande pubblico.
Ecco allora esposti 137 modelli di ruolo italiani da scoprire: architette, designer, visionarie, muratrici, influencer, sostenute da una archisorellanza e sì anche da una archifratellanza sincera.

The 137 portraits represent the architects who took part in the project DETOXING ARCHITECTURE FROM INEQUALITIES within the section DECOLONISING THE BUILT ENVIRONMENT, Italian Pavilion Resilient communities – comunita resilienti, 17th Venice Biennale Architettura with the theme “How will we live together“.
All the contents are the result of research carried out since May 2017 by the team RebelArchitette, now association Aps (Association for Social Promotion).
The women architects showcased here represent three types of studio make-up: single founder, all women teams, mixed (woman+man) teams.
We hope that students, academics, professional women and men, journalists, curators,… will be able to draw from this choral, open and democratic piece of work.

Tutti i contenuti, sono il risultato del lavoro di ricerca portato avanti dal maggio 2017 dal team, ora associazione Aps, RebelArchitette.
Le architette esposte rappresentano ad oggi tre modalità di composizione dello studio: singole fondatrici, team femminile e team misto (uomo+donna).
